Welcome to health class in the public school system. Roll call! Please get in line, no touching, and do you have your tinkle ticket?---BULLSHIT!---Education is induction.
Vox Rising! Proudly presents: The Children Left Behind! An interrogation of the education system as it stands; how it works to break our youth, their minds, health, and energy.
What happens when we dare to think outside of the molds we are being conditioned to fill? When the doodles in the margins are more important than the formulas we are copying from the board? This group of powerful youth questions the educational system through poetry, music, performance, video and even juggling. They speak on issues so often glazed over by a capitalist school system: teen sexuality; coming out; teen suicide; and what it means to question in a system that values the memorization of facts over thoughts and dreams.
This project has been propelled by youth DARING to ask the questions of what isn't in the curriculum, and to engage the revolution of naming WHO ARE WE?
This show examines topics that may not be suitable for younger children.
